Kamila Shamsie, Offence: The Muslim Case, Seagull Books, 2009.

This short piece by the Orange prize-nominated author is published as part of the 'Manifestos for the 21st Century' series. Shamsie examines the 'spectre of the Offended Muslim', arguing that while this figure is popularly regarded as an anti-Western construct, 'Islam is invoked over a range of perceived offences, most of them entirely without reference to the non-Muslim world'.
