Robin Yassin-Kassab, The Road from Damascus: A Novel, Hamish Hamilton, 2008

The Road from Damascas is the story of Sami, a Syrian Muslim Arab in London.

Love in a Headscarf author Shelina Zahra Janmohamed recently reviewed this book on her Spirit21 blogspot, observing that:

'Whilst the book does much to inform readers of the "Muslim experience", it is about something other than making a contribution to the landscape of literature that tries to untangle the complexity of religion in our society. The book is much bigger than this and in some ways less about religion and more about the intersections of life choices of different people, and how at some points they veer towards each other, and other times they veer apart. the human skill is to be able to hold relationships together no matter where you are on the curve'.
